Remodeling? When to hire a designer.

Getting ready to remodel your kitchen, bath, or whole house?  Shortly after you start thinking about the project is most likely the time to hire a designer!  Designers can offer services to help you establish a clear vision from the beginning of the project.

At Bee Studios, we work under the mentality that we design your project in it's entirety BEFORE the first hammer is swung.  It's easy to make modifications on paper, a lot harder to make design decisions as the project is underway.  (Granted we understand it is remodeling and on site things are bound to come up!)

Step 1:  What is your inspo?  What personalty do you want your space to have? When you are sitting on the sofa in the evening, grab your phone and check out some online pics and save a few images that you are drawn to. We always say- don't get caught up on the exact layout or materials (that's our job!), rather tag images that you are drawn to the feel or vibe. Casual? Light and bright? Chic and formal? Ornately detailed? Every space has a vibe- or it's personality.  We want to understand yours!  Here's my personal inspo board!

Step 2: Contact us to get started! During this phase we handle everything from measurements, computer drafting and renderings, curating your materials selections, tile drawings, fixture selections, lighting plans. You name it, we handle it.  We will review niche locations in showers. And outlet locations on island.  We go over ALL the details to make your project run as smooth as possible. We can help establish ball park budgets based on historical data and similar scope projects.

Step 3: During the planning and design process, we will bring in a recommended contractor to assess the feasibility and give insight into the construction of the job. Walls, electrical, plumbing components- are we good to proceed with the plan?  And what do you need to except during your project? This will require an on site visit at the project location.

Step 4: Bid time and ordering! Time to get final contracts, sign off on the job, and get materials ordered. While we are waiting for your finished materials to come in, the contractor is securing your project permits.

Step 5: Demo and construction start! How exciting. Months and months of planning and scheming, and we are finally ready to begin.  Demo day is always exciting. Usually the homeowners have moved out or we have setup a temporary living space in their home. Demo can be loud, messy, and dirty - so be sure to plan your life and home accordingly.

Step 6: Final touches. The heavy lifting is over, the mess is cleaned up, and now it's time to put those final designer touches on your space.  Then sit back and enjoy!
